Do you have an example of what a person would download from that site?

Hi Jeff. Brand new member here (Wish I'd noticed these boards earlier - would have saved me much grief!)

I saw this thread and thought I would toss in an answer: scribd.com allows uploading and downloading of books if you are a member (author). E.g., I have a few ebooks I've written on scribd and I also download ebooks and PDF documents that I find interesting. :)

Thanks!

Hi Jeff,

Here's a link to a specific book:

http://www.scribd.com/doc/34263235/Alexander-The-Great

The page is very slow to load, but when it finishes, there is a dowload bottom at the bottom of the page.
Next, you will need to supply your login details. I'll PM you with my details.

After this, you will be taken back to the download page and you'll have to push the download button again. This is the point where Scribd sort of freezes (in my case, at least).

I hope this helps.

i have created a disposable uname/password in scribd.com for you convenience. i am giving it in your pm . As i found out that with out logging in one can't download anything from there. After logging in you can follow phonemes's link above to initiate the download.
