Custom filter questions

Ok so im having a few issues with some custom filters, mainly i dont know how to make a site pacific one and another one is i dont know whats wrong with my filter anyway there we go.

Issue 1:
I want to block a div on a website, i would normally find the div id of "example" and add it to block/remove divs and spans but soon as i do that it messed up another website i use as in the text is now hidden which i do not want.

Issue 2:
I want to block the ads/sponsors on fd on the right hand side so i got the div/span and tried this #pagelet_ego_pane_w {display:none;} but it failed and i do not know why.

So far my result for both issues has been to install adblock plus seeing as that auto blocks the pane and doing site pacific blocks is pretty simple soon as you work it out, but i would like to know why admuncher is unable to do what a free app/extension can.

for the first issue you must give me the exact link to the page and the element you want removed.

facebook ads can't be removed without causing damage. no one can do it.

Here is the facebook thing: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=14cqq8m&s=6 left side is with adblock plus right side admuncher and #pagelet_ego_pane_w {display:none;} if i use the "inspect element""in chrome and add style="display:none" to the id it vanishes too.

As for the other issue i sorted that out.

I fail to see how it hurts facebook? The div is contained within a div so the site is not damaged, well not from what i have seen from a week of heavy use with adblock plus.

I do find it odd though, that a free app automatically blocks it yet custom filters in a paid app are blocked? The only thing that comes to my mind is maybe you are paid not to block them? I guess i will have to do a comparison of admuncher and adblock and see if its worth renewing my subscription which is ashame because i do like this application but if a free app does everything i need plus more then there is no point.

I do like how custom filter can be site pacific on adblock too, yet i do not know how to do them on admuncher.

Anyway thanks for refusing to help i guess i'll start my comparison of with and without admuncher.

I welcome comparisons between Ad Muncher and anyone else.

I know for a fact that your filter removes legit content as well as the ads.

so it's just not something I am willing to assist with.

Once we've added gzip and ssl filtering as well as regex support I will attempt to remove these ads properly without any damage.

as for your less than kind remarks, I'll just ignore them.

Hi Jeff, before i start a new topic i thought i would ask, are there any tutorials for custom filters? Im a little lost at setting them up properly :oops: so end up using adblocks easy filter :/

for example...
Adblock:
http://www.edmtunes.com###easy_fblkpop

Admuncher... ????
This failed:
easy_fblkpop - remove divs spans with text

Edit:
Admuncher des nto like the above :roll:

Add javascript to all pages:
if(__amscript_cd(".edmtunes.")){__amscript_wc('#easy_fblkpop {display:none;}');};

ad muncher is more powerful so slightly more complex.

you can add any CSS or JS you want.

Hi Jeff seems the code you gave does not seem to work, this is what ive tried your code then a css version i dont know what im doing wrong :oops:

#easy_fblkpop {display:none;}
#easy_fbbg {display:none;}
if(__amscript_cd(".edmtunes.")){__amscript_wc('#easy_fbbg {display:none}');};
if(__amscript_cd(".edmtunes.")){__amscript_wc("#easy_fblkpop {display:none}");};

How the site looks:
http://i40.tinypic.com/fvk4ya.png

Seems the site adds a cookie if the countdown reaches zero maybe that why it worked on your end ive started to clear them once the browser is closed.

Thanks for any help with this, will keep trying when i get back from town but im lost with making custm ones at moment lol

Edit: Nevermind i just noticed there was a close button i just didnt want to be forced into liking the page to access it.
Also just found out my VPN IP is blocked suppsoe thats a good thing though, swear it worked earlier though!

It is CSS, just written into the domain you want using JS and no other.

CD = check domain

WC = write CSS
