The Fix For IE Select Text Bug

Postby war59312 » Fri Jul 15, 2005 5:10 am

Hey,

Well I am trying to add this javascript to all pages using ad muncher.

I want to do this because it fixes the issue with sites that have the famous IE cant select text bug.

Code: Select all
javascript:onresize = function fixIE6AbsPos() { if (!document.body) return; if (document.body.style.margin != "0px") document.body.style.margin = 0; onresize = null; document.body.style.height = 0; setTimeout(function() { document.body.style.height = document.documentElement.scrollHeight+"px"; }, 1); setTimeout(function(){ onresize = fixIE6AbsPos; }, 100); }; void(fixIE6AbsPos());

ATM I just have it in my fav. and click when I need to use but sure would be nice to have it automated.

Here is an example web page that suffers from this issue:

cya,
Will

Update:

Finally. This one works:

Code: Select all

if (window.createPopup && document.compatMode && document.compatMode=="CSS1Compat") {   document.onreadystatechange = onresize = function fixIE6AbsPos()   {     if (!document.body) return;     if (document.body.style.margin != "0px") document.body.style.margin = 0;     onresize = null;     document.body.style.height = 0;     setTimeout(function(){ document.body.style.height = document.documentElement.scrollHeight+'px'; }, 1);     setTimeout(function(){ onresize = fixIE6AbsPos; }, 100);   } }

So what do you do with the second one? Where do you put it? I think I might download a plugin for Maxthon to do this. Looks a lil complicated/dodgy.

Hey,

Ad Muncher Configuration > My Filters > New Button > Enter the above for Keyword / url /text field and choose add javascript to all pages for the filter category.

Then clear your cache.

Simple as that.

It works fine!!

cya,
Will

Filters like this need to be fully tested and understood before they are given out to the public.
