So, as I alluded...the filter: #mgmhppd, #pmocntr2 {display:none;} - Add CSS to all pages removes the Google banner and the "Install Chrome" box. On my pc with Windows XP using IE8, that filter removes the "Install Google Chrome" box, but doesn't remove the Google banner.
What does remove the aforementioned on IE10-desktop on my Windows 8 pc is: google.promos - Remove divs/spans with text. The filter is a bit unsafe as Jeff mentioned in a thread a few years ago, but so far so good. I also like that the google.promos filter is a catch-all.
The filter mgmhppd, pmocntr2 - Remove divs/spans with text also works, but it's my understanding that google.promos - Remove divs/spans with text is less likely to break code.
