Hotmail Reply Broken

Postby nur0 » Thu Aug 26, 2010 2:05 pm

Hi,

New to the board so please go easy on me

Problem does not appear when Ad Muncher is disabled.

New Hotmail, trying to REPLY to emails in IE8 browser, this URL:

http://(random alphanumeric string).(random alphanumeric string).mail.live.com/default.aspx?wa=wsignin1.0

When I try to reply to an email this message appears in a yellow bar near top of the page:
'Windows Live Hotmail was not able to complete this request. Microsoft may contact you about any issues you report.'

There is an error shown in the status bar:
'Webpage error details
...
Message: Incompatible markup pointers for this operation.
Line: 1
Char: 25813
Code: 0
URI: http://gfx3.hotmail.com/mail/15.3.2523.0810/c0a.js'

All the usual Hotmail functions are not working i.e. To/Send/Insert etc. Disable Ad Muncher & works as normal. AMv4.9 Beta Build 32193/3147 on Win7 Ultimate with all updates applied, default security settings in IE zones.

If I then add the Site directory to AM:

http://(random alphanumeric string).(random alphanumeric string).mail.live.com/mail

with 'no filtering on URL', then Reply function works as expected (after a Ctrl+F5 in the browser of course), but adverts return. However, the bit in the brackets (random alphanumeric string).(random alphanumeric string) is different for each account login!

I have also posted to the Windows Live forum about this, before I decided the issue lay with AM - see more info there:

Problem manisfests on all my Hotmail/Live accounts.

Sorry I do not have IE, but i tested it with firefox and chrome and both of them can reply with AM active.

Maybe it is the combination of your security suite and AM.

Which Antivirus is installed on your AM testing system Jeff?

I have ESET NOD32 4.2.64.12 installed on my box, though disabling ESET only does not rectify the problem
