Thompson TG585v7 Router Configuration

Postby Andrue » Tue Mar 01, 2011 7:51 pm

I've found that I can only get to the configuration page of my router if I close Ad-Muncher. Simply disabling the filtering doesn't help.

I've tried this in IE8, IE9, Chrome and Firefox. All of them display the login page correctly. If you enter the wrong details they all display the correct error message. If you enter details correctly they all 'stall' after changing the title bar from 'Thompson Gateway - Login' to 'Thompson Gateway - Home'. IE8 also clears the browser window but the others just sit there showing the spinner.

If filtering is active the log shows the following:

Aborted filtering of connection due to unrecognised content encoding [http://192.168.1.254/util.js]
Default filter match - Minimal filtering on URL: //192.168. [http://192.168.1.254/styles.css]

Any thoughts?

The first entry in your list there means your router doesn't handle HTTP/1.0 requests properly.

Check to see if there is a newer firmware update for your router.

If not contact the makers of your router and report this bug.

We can't fix this.

I'm not all that surprised about the router having HTML issues but how come I actually have to close Ad Muncher? Shouldn't disabling filtering be enough?

Nope.

HTTP/1.0 requests are still in effect.

Ah, right. Is there anyway to find out what the issue actually is?

The company was sold and now trades under the name 'Technicolor' which doesn't inspire confidence but the modem is branded by my ISP and they do respond to complaints so it might be worth mentioning to them.

They respond to HTTP/1.0 queries with HTTP/1.1 replies.
