updater failing repeatedly

Postby phonemes » Sat Feb 22, 2014 11:57 am

Hi,

For weeks now, Ad Muncher's updater is causing me problems. Most of the time, I do my updates manually and half of the time, I get an "error connecting to host". This happens mostly when first trying to connect to the update server. But sometimes it does connect and finds the updates, but gives me the same error when trying to download the update. I have just tried to update and had to give up after at least five attempts.

I don't know if this is related, but I also often have problems reaching this forum.

I have also been having this issue for well over the last year or more. It never used to be this was but the last year or so I get these errors a lot. "Connecting to host" message takes for ever and then I get the error message. This all happens when doing manual updates.

Any chance Ad Muncher 5.0 will fix this?

This is unrelated to Ad Muncher.

it's our server being over taxed.

nothing else.

I've read this thread. I have to do manual updates because auto does not work.Updating during the holidays and some weekends AM updates without problems. During the week sometimes it takes 15 to 20 minutes or more of constant updating to update which is a PITA. I have no problems with other software updating on my computer. Don't you think it's time to upgrade the server?

We will.

Our software is custom.

We have to rewrite it to run on amazon cloud.

Murray just got married on saturday so...

This has been going on for me for a while too. would like to say probably the past year and its really annoying. It seems to be increasingly getting worse and worse.

You'd think that since you're selling a product that customers have to annually subscribe to, you'd want make sure it works properly, and make it a priority.
Instead it sounds like the devs don't give a damn, and will get to it whenever they feel like it.
"So" lol

I hope it gets resolved soon.

We suffer from DoS Attacks.

Not much we can do about that...

This error when trying to update is really driving me nuts. I use a lot of software on my computer that have built in update checkers and Ad Muncher is the only one that constantly gives me errors and is unable to check and receive updates! I never remember this happening a few years ago with the update checker in Ad Muncher.

What needs to be done to fix this issue once and for all?

Also will Ad Muncher 5 be released in the next 10 years?

when the update server is moved to Amazon cloud it will be gone. that is not a simple task.
