Forum Spam and v4.72 Update

Postby Murray » Tue Oct 30, 2007 3:08 am

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to apologize for any private message spam you may have received on this forum. I've deleted the responsible account and am now looking at ways to reduce the chance of this happening again.

When I'm not wasting time on spammers, v4.72 development is coming along nicely. Ad Muncher's configuration storage, IPC system and important parts of the installer are now Vista-friendly. Originally I was planning on releasing betas with improving levels of Vista compatibility (hence my original fortnight time estimate) but I've since reconsidered and will release the first beta once all of the Vista-related changes are complete.

Stay tuned, and thanks for bearing with us as always.

Yours sincerely,

Murray Hurps

Wise move, so you wont have people still complaining about no Vista support in the new version.

Yes, good to see new anti-spam measures. I was seeing more spam posted every day than legitimate posts.

BTW, can you re-enable the setting which allows users to edit their own posts? It would be nice to have.

I checked and it should be possible to edit your posts - is this not the case?

Fixed the post editing/deleting access (was just in the dev status part of the forum).

Could you tell me where could I get the 4.72 beta version?

war59312: Not sure why that changed, must have been a change in one of the phpbb versions. Will go sniffing around when I get a spare moment.

weiwei08: No v4.72 beta is available yet. Please sign up for the Ad Muncher mailing list on our web site if you would like to be notified when one is available.
