Ad Muncher v4.72 Released

Postby Murray » Mon Apr 28, 2008 5:41 am

Hi everyone,

Ad Muncher v4.72 has now been released and is available from:

http://www.admuncher.com/AM-Install.exe

This release makes Ad Muncher fully Vista compatible, as well as addressing some important bug fixes, increasing filtering reliability and vastly improving the installation system.

For a full list of changes please visit:

http://www.admuncher.com/changelog.txt

Our sincere thanks to everyone who helped test the v4.72 betas and made this release what it is, and to everyone who has supported Ad Muncher development by registering.

We're now starting work on v4.73, which will consist mainly of rewriting Ad Muncher's patching system so that it can filter 64-bit programs. An announcement will be made on our mailing list once v4.73 starts testing.

As always please don't hesitate to contact us if you run into any problems, and thank you very much for using Ad Muncher.

Yours sincerely,

Murray Hurps

Hi. I've just had 4.72 build 30400 update on my installed AM program via Options/Update having had the Beta version loaded during develoment. Silly question probably but I assume uninstalling 4.72 Beta and installing clean 4.72 is not necessary. Great work Murray and Jeff.

Correct. You never need to uninstall Ad Muncher to update to a new version. :)
That's not an ad blocker... THIS is an ad blocker.

No bovines were harmed in the making of this program.

My first popup stopper blocked too much.
My second popup stopper didn't block enough.

So that's what these recent updates were about. The updates install so smoothly that I don't usually bother checking what they do. :)

Excellent, been using the beta for quite some time as it worked even better than 4.71 on XP. ! Auto update was easy and done in seconds, and i also had am email telling me of 4.72's release. Great.

This morning I received what I now think was an update to v4.71. Asked me to make
some choices. Confused, chose the default, and installed it. Restarted. "About" in the
Ad Muncher configuration window still listed v4.71 as the version I had.

I then downloaded the Ad Muncher update url that was sent to me by email,
http://www.admuncher.com/AM-Install.exe. Was asked if I wanted to "uninstall
or abort." Confused. Thought no uninstall was necessary? Did not know what
you meant by "abort," so I guessed and chose uninstall. Current v4.72 version
now appears in "About" in the Ad Muncher configuration. So I guess all is well.

Love Ad Muncher, just wish updates to current versions and installation of new
versions were dumbed down a little for newbies and those who are not computer-
savvy.

I suspect the prompt you received was asking if you wanted to close the copy of Ad Muncher that was running at the time in order to install the new version.

Sorry for the confusion, I'll have a look at the wording of this and see if I can clarify it a little.
