Status update

Postby Murray » Thu Mar 10, 2005 8:19 pm

Hi everyone,

Devolopment has been somewhat delayed while I worked on some other things, including completing and launching the partnership program and putting up this little forum, but I'm back to Ad Muncher coding work now.

Specifically I'm working on the HTTP 1.1/Gzip support for v4.7, which is coming along nicely.

Chris is also working on a fix for the crashes a lot of you have been experiencing, which should be made available within the next few days. A troublesome opera cache-clearing module has been responsible for all of the reports we've received.

Jeff continues to work on his amazing list, which is available in the current betas (v4.7.[anything]). Reports of any damaged sites or missed adverts are as always very much appreciated.

That's it for now, more updates will be posted here once there's something to update on :-)

Have you planned 4.8 & 4.9 yet? Or is 4.7 last done in assembly and next version would jump to 5. ?

The 4.x tree will continue until the major of 5.0's features (coded in C) are implemented. 5.0 will be fully C coded (with ASM optimisations I guess ;)

Murray could let you know more.

Hello Murray, hello everyone,

Waiting of course for Ad Muncher 4.7 Final, but Beta works already great as far as I'm concerned (v.4.7 Build 16248/1087 *BETA*).
17,944 adverts removed, 140 Mbytes bandwidth saved since March 21st.
But most of all: tranquility.

Ad Muncher is a jackpot :D

Any chance of us getting back a devstatus page like the one that existed for v5 before it was decided to just make incremental "minor" revisions via .7 .8 .9 etc versions?

Jeff, please tell Murray that we want update, sneak peek 8)
Impatiency of fans and enthusiasts is too high :P

I have some questions:

1) I know version 5 will be out when it's done, but could you give us just crude estimation, this/next year, autumn/winter..? 4.8, 4.9 before it?

2) new interface & GZIP for version 5 only?

3) 64-bit version of AM 5, still under consideration?

4) other new features (maybe something from wishlist )?
