Suggest your country/language spesific filters here

Postby Pablo » Sun May 15, 2005 6:44 pm

It would be easier for me to recommend AM, when I would not get critic and need to advise them to make their own filters for some finnish sites in my case.

here you can see some example sites with adverts on the right sides of these pages:
http://keskustelu.kauppalehti.fi/
http://www.mtv3.fi/uutiset/
http://www.mtv3.fi/saa (maybe broken weather flash could be fixed in default list too, it's popular)

advert = mainos
adverts = mainokset
advertisers = mainostajat

I am suggesting "universal" keyword like:
block retrieval of URL: maino*s*.*.fi
and maybe one radical could be: remove images etc with URL: /*maino*s

for google's adverts: sponsored links = sponsorien linkit

Ad Muncher obviously can't have every keyword for every language. This would quickly become very cumbersome.

If there are a lot of missed ads for a particular language users can contact us for support as often as they want.

This is included with their registration.

Your suggested entries were a little broad.

This one is added for 1104
Remove images/etc with URL: /mainos.*?

As for the weather flash, it appears to work just fine here.

It would be impractical to add an entry for every language google supports.

Here is the exact entry you would need to add.

Remove tables with text:
align=center*<font*>sponsorien*linkit</font><

I fully understand you and I did consider that before posting. My long time experince showed me that just one filter cleaned finnish pages. I think it this kind of thread might give good results as default list improves. It could give "foreign" users better picture of ad muncher during try-out period, and of course relieve the time from email-support though it seems that people here haven't have daring to report it.

For me loading stucks there (red arrow). I know how to create 'don't match' filter for this, but try-out users unlikely.

The weather flash works here just fine with no additional entries.

Can you disable your custom list and check it again after clearing your cache?

:shock: impossible :P

I've tried this many times now. I have only two options:

1) to disable default filter list or to remove "/ad/" (remove images/etc with URL) from that list
2) to add this to custom list: no filtering on URL: http://www.mtv3.fi/saa2004/f5 (all visible ads are removed)

Build 16446/1104 & Opera 8.01 through proxy

@Mancubus

Very nice list but a lot of those are already in the default list in one form or another.

Also no entries are added to the list without a real live site to go with it.

So feel free to post URLs to sites with missed ads and I'll take a look at every one of them.

Maybe in the last betas, but in final release they maybe
exist, but don't work. At least, didn't for me. That's why those URLs above appeared in customfilters.

Some examples (can't remember all sites, from where I took my banners URLs):
http://kottespondent.net
http://rateme.km.ru (a lot of banners)
http://photofile.ru
http://gazeta.ru

To identify ad blocks between news blocks you can look for word "РЕКЛАМА".

Hope, this will help.
Thanks for your work, besides!

I would be happy to take my part in making AdMuncher more effective, not only for USA/Europe users.
