Ditto! It sucks when browsing as the ads take up most of the screen real estate!

Was sitting in a medical centre waiting room this morning catching up on the morning news via my Windows Mobile phone and was stunned at how many banner ads are now being put in 'mobile compatible' websites. Given the limited screen real estate my immediate thought was how useful Ad Muncher on Windows Mobile would be.

I found one of two previous requests going back over the years and it would seem some of the assumptions have evolved in that time, e.g.

  • No flash on mobile devices - no longer true
  • Limited processing power - well... maybe still true, but getting better.
  • Having to code for a 'new' browser, i.e. Pocket IE - Should (hopefully) be easier with the upcoming release of Internet Explorer Mobile 6

Anyway, number of requests is probably less than for Mac or *nix version but just wanted to register another virtual vote for a Windows Mobile version. I think Ad Muncher is already placed as the ideal candidate as you guys get the idea of lean, efficient, and functional which is so necessary on WinMo platform.

Cheers.

Probably not a chance, but as discussed before... In such case, the solution is in offering proxy service. So the filtering load would be elsewhere than on your device. :)
