removal of poker ads

Postby RoSmecher » Tue Mar 23, 2010 3:57 pm

hi, my old man plays quite a bit of online poker, and there are always annoying ads when you either exit the poker application or ads within the application themselves...

if i install ad muncher on his computer, would ad muncher remove some of these ads??

thanks for your time.

There's a very good chance that AM will filter the ads, yes. But without knowing what specific website or application he's using, it's impossible to say for sure. Install the free trial and find out :) And if it doesn't work, come back and tell us what app it is, we may be able to get filtering working for it.

hey, thanks for the quick reply...

Well i installed ad muncher on his comp and i don't think it removed any of the ads in the applications.. i don't think i'll uninstall it because ad muncher is great for just general web surfing, but in the future can you guys have a look and try to see if you can remove ads from the following poker programs:
UB - http://www.ultimatebet.com/
Poker Stars - http://www.pokerstars.com/

I know that ad muncher removes advertisements from the old version of MSN Messenger and other clients other than a web browser so if there is any setting i can get on my end let me know..

thanks for your time and thanks for such a great product.

Try adding the process name for the two applications to the Filter Targets tab.

Let us know how it goes.

I added the two programs to the filter... however no ads were removed and the ad that always appears when closing the applications still appears.

Really though when the application is running there is just an ad in the top right corner, and usually it's an ad for themselves, meaning for some poker tournament. when closing the application there is some sort of ad that appears that is set on a timer before the application finally closes.

anyway no biggie, might wanna have a look to try to filter it in future releases if you guys have extra time on your hands, i doubt that this should be high on the priority list.

take care

Ad Muncher won't be able to do anything about the timer since that's part of the application.

Ad Muncher can only block ads that are downloaded over a connection.

Any locally hosted ads are not blocked.
