Hi,
I'm getting Ad's on Facebook, I'm using Google Chrome 5.0.396.0 and Ad Muncher 4.9 Beta 32130/2976 and windows XP SP3. The right hand side of face book has these AD's?

Hi Jeff,
I guess I don't fully understand your answer, do you mean you can not remove the facebook AD's? You say the facebook servers are configured wrong, am I the only person seeing this problem? What do you mean they are configured wrong, that doesn't make sense to me....Why can't you remove the AD's?

They are not replying correctly to our HTTP/1.0 requests.
They send back content we can not modify.

Great Extension on Google Chrome thank you for the info it works!! I wonder why Ad Muncher can't get these guys on facebook, they "Violet Internet Standards"??? I pay for this software now there is a Google Chrome Extension for FREE which actually takes care of the problem?

Once we add gzip it won't be a problem anymore.
This issue though wouldn't just affect Ad Muncher.
It affects all HTTP/1.0 applications.
Only some text ads are left, all other ads on facebook are blocked.

I don't mean to be MEAN but why does the software I pay for with Ad Muncher fail to remove Ad's on facebook because U suddenly need gzip and a free extension from a google chrome user can remove the AD's? Last night you told me Facebook was not conforming to internet standards (which I'm sure is 100% true) and now U say "Once we add gzip" it won't be a problem but last night there was a google extension to correct the problem & that extension was FREE?
I want Ad Muncher to be better than the latest FREE GMAIL extension, what am I missing?

If facebook's server's were properly configured it would be removed right now.

The problem is that Ad Muncher can only interpret data that is properly sent via HTTP 1.0 requests at this time. Therefore, any website that does not respond correctly to HTTP 1.0 requests (and there are quite a few) can't get fully filtered by AM at this time. And Jeff is correct in that this is a violation of well-established web standards. HTTP 1.1/gzip support is working on being added to Ad Muncher before version 5.x hits, last I knew. It's unfortunate, but we just have to wait for now. It's been a long time coming, but hopefully the wait won't be much longer.

A Google Chrome user has developed an Extension which defeats Facebook Ad's so apparently it is doable (the extension does work).

Of course it's doable.
The problem is a bug on their server that only effects programs that make HTTP/1.0 connections.
A script is not outside of the browser so isn't effected.
Once we add gzip support in a future 4.x version this problem will go away.

Hi Jeff, just wanted to see how this is progressing? I am currently using Ad Muncher v4.9 Beta Build 32193/3181 and I love it, except for the stupid ads on facebook. I will give the chrome extension a go since that is my main browser anyways.
