Google Adsservice

Postby Andrue » Mon Mar 26, 2012 8:00 pm

Hiya, I'm encountering more and more search results from Google that appear to be linked through their ads service eg;

[snip]

Is there a way to have AdMuncher rip out the preamble and just let the url through?

Ad Muncher v4.92 Build 32700/3915

Edit:Removed URL.

It's an ad, don't click on it...

Disable HTTPS on google search so you won't see the ads...
That's not an ad blocker... THIS is an ad blocker.

Lol, that turned out to be painful.

http://www.ghacks.net/2011/10/23/google ... change-it/

"Update: It appears as if Google has removed the option to disable the redirection to https in the search options. There is no option available anymore to force your Google connections to use http instead of https."

I don't really know why I was logged in anyway so I've logged out and that's cured it.

Part of Google's new 'privacy' policy. Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Why do they still insist on calling it a 'privacy' policy? Call it for what it is... An 'Intrusion' policy. This is why I don't have a Google or YouTube account. All hail Firefox and AdMuncher for keeping web sites from tracking you.

Yeah, rather sneaky and ultimately pretty pointless. Actually another point for Jeff to consider is that the original link appeared to just be a search result. If it'd had been in a separate column on the right I'd have realised it was an advert. Since it's HTTPS I imagine some sneaky layout from Google.

Edit:Corrected name. Sorry, Jeff :)

Hopefully this won't be an issue any more once we get SSL support working.
